Private memorial journey · Eastern Poland
A private, door-to-door journey from Krakow to the Museum and Memorial in Bełżec — one of the principal killing centres of Aktion Reinhardt. Travel in your own vehicle, visit the exhibition and memorial at a respectful pace, and choose between an independent visit or a pre-booked official museum guide.
A specialist private route
The former German Nazi extermination camp at Bełżec was one of the three main killing centres created for Aktion Reinhardt. The museum states that at least 434,508 people were murdered here, overwhelmingly Jews deported from occupied Poland as well as from other European countries.
About the memorial
Mass deportations to Bełżec began on 17 March 1942. The killing centre operated from March to December 1942 and became a central part of Aktion Reinhardt — the German Nazi programme to murder the Jewish population of the General Government.
Today the Museum and Memorial in Bełżec combines a permanent historical exhibition with a powerful outdoor memorial built on the grounds of the former camp. The site is a place of remembrance and a burial site, so visitors are asked to behave and dress appropriately.
Your private day
Your driver collects you from your hotel, apartment or agreed address in Krakow. Airport pickup or a different starting point can also be arranged.
The road journey is approximately 290 km and normally takes around three hours each way. We can include a comfort stop on the route when needed.
Begin at the Museum Information Point, then visit the permanent exhibition and memorial grounds. If you have requested an official guide, the visit begins at the museum information point at the confirmed time.
For most private visits we suggest allowing around 1.5–2 hours, but we can plan additional time when the visit has personal or family significance.
After the visit we can return directly to Krakow. If you want to continue to Zamość, Lublin or another destination in eastern Poland, tell us when requesting the tour and we will build the route accordingly.
What is included
Route planning
Because Bełżec is almost 300 km from Krakow, we keep combinations realistic. Zamość, around 43 km from Bełżec, is the most natural addition. Majdanek/Lublin or Sobibór are better planned as a very long day or, preferably, as part of an overnight or multi-day private itinerary.
Real guest feedback
KRK-KrakowTours also has a Tripadvisor review specifically describing a private visit to Bełżec in 2019 — an unusual, personally important journey arranged from Krakow.
“A first class service from Tomas and Lukas.”
“Very accomodating, made sure we got into our destinations and translated where needed.”
“He was always on time, very knowledgeable…”
“Fantastic service from a friendly english speaking driver. Excellent local knowledge…”

Yes. Zamość is roughly 43 km from Bełżec and is the most natural addition. It makes the day longer, so we will confirm a realistic departure and return time.
It is possible on a tailored itinerary, but from Krakow these combinations are very long. We normally recommend an overnight or multi-day route rather than rushing two major memorial sites.
Yes. We can quote a one-way route ending in Lublin, Warsaw, Rzeszów or another destination instead of returning to Krakow.
