Why this route is different
This is a long mountain day, but it is designed around independent time rather than being marched from photo stop to photo stop. The Morskie Oko hike is the heart of the trip; SkyWalk adds a completely different viewpoint, and Zakopane gives you time to choose what you actually want to do.
The itinerary
Expect an early start and a full day out. Timings may move with traffic, mountain weather and the pace of the group, but the route is structured to protect the important part: enough time to experience Morskie Oko properly.
We collect you from your hotel or accommodation in Krakow, then travel south in a comfortable van or minibus. With several hotel pickups, the exact journey time can vary before we leave the city and head toward Tatra National Park.
We make a short orientation and photo stop before the main walk. From here, the day becomes much more about mountain scenery than time in the vehicle.
Walk independently toward Poland's best-known mountain lake. The route is roughly 5 miles (8 km) each way, so comfortable footwear and realistic expectations about the walking distance matter.
Once you arrive, slow down. Take photos, walk around the lakeside area, grab something to eat or simply enjoy the surrounding peaks before starting back.
Walk back at your own pace. When operating, a horse carriage may be available as an optional alternative for part of the journey and is paid locally in cash.
Continue to SkyWalk for a completely different perspective on the Tatras. Explore the elevated walkway and viewpoints independently, with time for photos and the mountain panorama.
Spend around two hours in Zakopane. Walk Krupówki, choose your own lunch, browse local products or use the time for another viewpoint such as Gubałówka if timing allows.
On the return route, we can make a short stop in Chochołów, a village known for its timber Highlander houses and distinctive Podhale architecture.
Relax on the drive back to Krakow after a full day in the mountains. Return timing depends on traffic and mountain conditions.
